Eu li que o comando STARTTLS foi adicionado e pretendia substituir as portas SSL. Mas mesmo os principais servidores de e-mail como o google ainda usam portas SSL e não nos permitem usar portas clássicas com STARTTLS. Portanto, parece que a situação é bem oposta e as boas e velhas portas imap e smtp (pelo menos para fins de autenticação e envio de e-mails) estão obsoletas. É assim?

A configuração é extremamente simples. Eu configurei o postfix via mestre embutido como um host de site da Internet. As configurações do Dovecot (eu o uso como servidor IMAP) são todas padrão. Agora, sou capaz de me conectar a este servidor com qualquer cliente de e-mail em minhas mãos (outlook, eM Client) e fazer correspondências de rotina, exceto o Thunderbird.
Quando tento configurar minha conta no Thunderbird, tenho essa janela infinita:
No lado do servidor, vejo essas entradas suspeitas mail.logsempre que tento testar minhas configurações nas janelas de configurações do Thunderbird (o teste passa OK):

Eu simplifiquei especificamente essa configuração porque tenho um servidor de e-mail completo com autenticação, SSL, DKIM etc., mas também não consigo usar o thunderbird com ele (o comportamento é exatamente o mesmo).
Estou sem ideias de como fazer o thunderbird se conectar ao meu servidor. Qualquer ajuda é apreciada!
Estou tentando migrar o DC do Windows Server 2003 SBS para o Windows Server 2016. Os problemas começam quando tento promover o Server 2016 a controlador de domínio. Recebo a seguinte mensagem de erro na etapa 'Verificação de pré-requisitos':

Na floresta há um subdomínio vazio e um DC secundário com defeito (o computador em que foi instalado foi perdido há muito tempo). Eu limpei essas coisas com a ajuda de ntdsutil, mas foi em vão. Embora dcdiagagora esteja quase limpo:
