Recentemente, atualizei meu servidor para o Centos 7; Pedi aos usuários que fizessem backup dos dados para a atualização. Após a atualização, algum usuário tentou descompactar um tar de backup (~300Gb) e isso fez com que o servidor travasse/congelasse. (não respondendo à entrada do teclado/ssh) (reproduzível) Isso aconteceu também com outro binário que consumia muitos recursos.
Eu monitorei memória e CPU e ambos são razoáveis até o congelamento, então a conclusão sobre a placa Centos foi que é limitação de I/0. Isso parecia correto, pois a solução alternativa nice
finalizou o untar com sucesso.
Minha pergunta é: como posso ter certeza de que isso não acontecerá novamente no futuro? (Posso limitar o I/0?) Esta é uma máquina "offline", então os usuários esperam uma grande liberdade para experimentar. (mas obviamente não queremos reinicializar a máquina todos os dias.) Posso processar processos por padrão? Ou limitar o I/0 para que a máquina não "congele"? O sistema está rodando de um raidcontroller que tem raid 6 em 6 xWestern Digital RE4
