Adaptei o algoritmo de Gyan para crossfading - do qual prefiro os resultados xfade
- para concatenar dois vídeos e fazer crossfade com um terceiro:

Depois de codificar cerca de metade do que seria o comprimento final do vídeo e usar todos os 16 GB da minha RAM, o FFmpeg finalmente se esgota e trava.

Depois de alguns dias lutando com esse problema, determinei que, pelo menos em minha própria experiência, é sempre causado por números que não somam, como um
-ss
que excede a duração do vídeo ouSETPTS
valores calculados incorretamente.Eu ainda acredito que isso é um bug por dois motivos:
Porque não é apenas um caso de FFmpeg esgotando toda a memória disponível como eu suspeitei, mas usando quantidades significativas de memória rapidamente antes de eventualmente travar enquanto ainda há memória disponível
Porque o FFmpeg deve realmente detectar e lançar erros quando parâmetros que obviamente não computam vão consumir grandes quantidades de memória antes de inevitavelmente travar
