Gradiente linear de fundo não funciona no marquee div

Estou trabalhando em um letreiro que exibe imagens diferentes. O letreiro está funcionando bem, no entanto, o gradiente linear de fundo que estou usando para dar um efeito legal não está.
O objetivo é que as imagens apareçam gradualmente da direita para desaparecer gradualmente da esquerda, mas as imagens estão em cima do gradiente. Eu até tentei usar um div dentro do letreiro com um z-index alto, mas com o mesmo resultado.

Vocês sabem qual é o problema? Eu olhei as respostas de outras pessoas usando gradientes para esses tipos de efeitos, mas parece que não estou conseguindo. Agradeço antecipadamente pela ajuda.

Group_by + summary não está funcionando (parece um bug no pacote dplyr)

Minha pergunta é um tanto problemática, pois sei que o código está completamente correto. Deixo abaixo o que estou fazendo (coisas bem simples):

O problema é que mesmo que o código crie perfeitamente bem a coluna year_fctrusando mutate()and case_when()(eu verifiquei usando apenas o mutate e a coluna existe), ele simplesmente não a agrupará com base naquela coluna existente . A pior parte de tudo isso é que funcionou anteontem e ontem carregando novamente o arquivo e o código não funcionará.

Reiniciei o RStudio, limpei e recarreguei todos os objetos no ambiente e até reiniciei meu computador, mas ele não coopera, simplesmente não funciona.
