将 Postgresql 9.5 max_connections 增加到至少 300

  • 772

现在我使用默认的 postgresql.conf,它的最大连接数设置为 100。我需要将 max_connections 增加到 300。Postgresql 9.5 是我的 Linode 上唯一运行的东西。

我在 Linode 8GB 上的 Debian 8 64 位上运行 postgresql 9.5,但我很快就会升级到 16GB。如果可以实现我的目标,我可以将我的 Linode 升级到 32 GB。

据我所知,不再需要为 9.2 之后的 Postgresql 更改 Linux 内核的 SHMMAX 参数,对吗?

我的数据库在生产服务器上运行,我想确保没有问题出现。为了获得 300 个 max_connections,我需要更改哪些参数?

我当前的 postgresql.conf

# The commented-out settings shown in this file represent the default values.
# Re-commenting a setting is NOT sufficient to revert it to the default value;
# you need to reload the server.

# This file is read on server startup and when the server receives a SIGHUP
# signal. If you edit the file on a running system, you have to SIGHUP the
# server for the changes to take effect, or use "pg_ctl reload". Some
# parameters, which are marked below, require a server shutdown and restart to
# take effect.
#
# Any parameter can also be given as a command-line option to the server, e.g.,
# "postgres -c log_connections=on". Some parameters can be changed at run time
# with the "SET" SQL command.

    为了获得 300 个 max_connections,我需要更改哪些参数?

    You only need to increase max_connections for that.

    But you probably want to increase shared_mem as well. The rule of thumb is to start with 30% of the server's memory, so 2.5GB would be a good start

    max_connections = 300
    shared_buffers = 2500MB

    Unrelated, but: depending on your harddisk(s) you might also want to lower random_page_cost. For fast disks you could reduce that to 3.0

    With a good SSD I typically set this to 1.5 or 1.0

    As with all automated tools, you should take it's results with a grain of salt, but PgTune is fairly good at giving you a decent starting configuration.

    Besides shared_buffers, please also have a look also at maintenance_work_mem for all vacuum/reindex/... internal operations.

    By the way, your memory is decent but you do not give information about your CPU power. Depending on your load, 300 connections might put your server on its knees and you might need a pooler in front, such as PgBouncer.

    I have experienced that when modifying the max_connection value to a high number 50000, for example, it is also needed to modify the kernel.sem (semaphores) value, I am not sure what would be the correct parameters in this case.

    This values allowed me to change the max_connection to 40000 but not to 50000

    ------ Semaphore Limits --------
    max number of arrays = 2560
    max semaphores per array = 500100
    max semaphores system wide = 1280256000
    max ops per semop call = 500100
    semaphore max value = 32767
